Come Ahead Dumgoyne!

It’s odd, but every time I look north from Glasgow towards the Campsie Fells my eyes are instantly drawn towards Dumgoyne. Logically I know that it’s just a hill, and not a very impressive one at that, but I feel I’m developing some kind of enmity towards it. I get this impression that it thinks it’s better than the rest of the Campsie Fells because it stands alone. I suppose it could also be because it bears a passing resemblence to  Loudoun Hill which dominates the landscape of my old home town.

That is why I may have to conquer it.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon.

Gies a shout – I pass it on the way home each day and climbed it with McDowall a few years back too.

The picts saw Dumgoyne as the northern frontier of the Clyde Valley with Dunwan hill South of Eaglesham as the southern boundary. Dumfoyne is the wee hill next to it.

Strangely enough I had been threatening to take Clare up Dumgoyne just the other week….

That better no be code for anything.

Anyhow we should arrange a day trip up the hill before it enrages me and I have to physically attack it. I know the chances of successfully defeating an entire geographical feature in hand to hand combat are infinitesimally small, but…

    BANZAI!
