Blackjack

Quite by accident I stumbled upon an interesting thing on, of all places, the Telegraph website. It’s a slide show of images telling the story of a devastating act of nuclear terrorism which reduces much of central London to ruins. This is followed by more nuclear explosions in Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and even Mexico City.

In the aftermath of these devastating attacks an oppressive, totalitarian regime steps in to fill the power vacuum left by the annihilation of much of American and the UK’s government infrastructure. This new unelected government called the Union of North America (UNA)  uses the terrorist threat to justify more and more repressive policies as well as aggressive military action against its foreign enemies including Iran, Syria and China.

In the background it’s revealed that the people behind the terrorist bombings are also the people that have founded and control the UNA as part of a plan to “save humanity from itself.” Sadly things don’t go quite according to plan and their repressive policies cause a massive revolutionary backlash. I won’t spoil the rest of the story for you as you can read the five parts using these links:

Part One
Part Two
Part Three
Part Four
Part Five

Although it’s not totally original, what is nowadays though, I still demand that it’s made into a TV series, or maybe a mini-series at least. It would should beat the crap out of some of the other “entertainment” that media is currently cramming down our TV tubes. Hell we could even have some kind of text voting beforehand so people could decide which cities are shown getting nuked when the show starts.
