I took another look at the Squinty Bridge today on the way to work and it’s really starting to look like its old self again. The engineers have given it a fresh coat of paint and most of the plant has been taken away. One of the big supporting ties still looks like a temporary replacement but other than that it seems ready to face the public once more.

It’s just a shame they’ve not done anything about the damned traffic management on the north end that I was ranting about months ago.

The news says it’s due to reopen on the 29th of June. I’m a bit surprised that they didn’t try to tie the reopening in with the River Festival in July but at least it’ll be open to get a good view of the proceedings.

Hopefully once it reopens it’ll stay reopened and I can stop having to take huge detours through the centre of the city to get anywhere. Once more I’ll be able to bestride the River Clyde like a mighty colossus, or maybe like a giant spider…
